...and over 17,800 songs, I have effectively put all of my CD's on my iPod. There's a few things here and there to add, but it's done. In this time, I really havent drawn much. It's been a really terrible dry spot for me. I haven't been really inspired by much lately. Which is quite the kick in the balls, considering MoCCA is coming up. That's a convention that takes place in NYC on June 7th and 8th, and focuses on mostly indie comics, which is the type of stuff I do. (www.moccany.org) I'll be sharing a table with jaymarcy & timkelly. And Jay will be hanging with me until Wednesday morning. So I have little time to prepare. I'll be selling reprints of my minis, including My Happy Place. I'll be heading back into the archives for some of the old stuff, much of which most of y'all have never seen. And I'll be doing a spin on "commissions" doing random animal drawings on small pieces of paper to sell to the art crowds of NYC. Kinda like the badges of Teh Furreh Fandumb, but say, with a Juxtapoz spin to it. I really need to solicit publishers for Destroying The Illusion & Slammin Bunneez. Anybody want to help me write the letter I want to send along with the submission? :D
Also, it is official: I am going to AnthroCon. Prolly concentrate on running around in Divvy (and maybe Eryshé). But DO invite me to a sketchbook party, I want to get my draw on.
Ummmm. I know I'm probably forgetting something or another.
My day in a nut shell: Found out that Jon ran up a huge phone bill AGAIN. Went to the Crossings (big park) Went to the mall (even though it was Jon's day off he still had to go in to work for a meeting). Got in the car to leave the mall and it wouldn't start. Called AAA and went back in the mall. AAA guy gets there, jumps the car and it starts. Has me turn the car off and try to turn it back on, it won't start. Jumps it again and it starts. Tells me that I need a new battery. Get home turn it off try and turn it back on, won't start. Guess I will be calling AAA tomorrow and having them jump me. Then I will drive over to Advance Auto Parts and buy a new battery. It says on their website that they install it for free.
“Hey guys. I just want to make a post coz I'm currently outside Jimmy Cambell with Little Eyes Have It. But, I guess Tabby and it's mainly this is a comment to all the VST(?) on my list. We we met Eezy(?) and we actually got a video. We got a video of her thing Blame it on Wilcox. So it's now on video and you all guys can see it soon hopefully. It's kinda dark but it's so funny. So like I said I'm actually still here. We're still here and yes she's very sweet very nice and spend time to talk. So very sweet, very nice. And and she's very beautiful. So you got to see some really great vids(?) of Tabby Park. So I can't wait. Hope everyone is doing well. I gotta go because she should be coming back anytime soon because she's eating. She borrow the guy near me his pants. So I just want to let you guys know. So hope everything's going well and yeah I'll be back later. Talk to you guys. Yes see for next week. Have a good evening and I'll talk to you later. Bye.”
Definitely less fun than the old one. We actually saw a copy of Mr. Fangs on a banner for Creative Loafing's Besty of Atlanta 2006 (!) Indicating he must have acheived some kind of mass appeal. Perhaps this was the spotlight that caused APD to crackdown hard on the burgeoning street art movement in Atlanta. The only Dr. Blade sign I saw, in Cabbagetown, had been completely done over.
If this cat looks a bit extraordinary, that’s because this is no ordinary cat. It’s an Ashera, a breed created by mixing the bloodlines of a domesticated cat, an African Serval and an Asian Leopard Cat. The result is a 30 pound kitty who is highly intelligent, affectionate and has no problem with being walked on a leash.
THE HOUSE I'M LOOKING AT TOMORROW WILL BE THE ONE.
I will seriously sign a lease that starts tomorrow. We drove by and looked in all the windows and it's cute and it a decent neighborhood and close to stuff and if you include gas and utilities and whatnot, approximately half the rent we're paying now.
Something Dark is Coming; BSG season 2 (how fitting)
]
Today i finished up my last final exam for my sophomore year at Luther College. I have a few more days acting as RA until i move from one dorm to another...but its finally setting in that I'm half way done with my college career. I suppose I had better take a moment to reflect on the past year.
First off, it'll be odd not having a roommate. I've lived sharing a room with someone almost non stop since the first day of Freshman year, my only respite being a few days at home here and there and the week i was doing RA training before Bradin moved in. I will say, though, that for the most part, it was a terribly fun year, the two of us living together. Besides meshing academic interests well, we also share a number of fandoms. In fact, one of the big accomplishments in Ylvi 316 (our room), was watching seasons 2-10 of SG1 between November and February.
This year I also began to take advantage of the opportunities to do independent studies and directed readings with professors. I read the Babylonian creation story, 13 of the Hindu Upanishads, and portions of the Huayan Sutra of Buddhism with my advisor. Some of it was tough going, but all very interesting. I also watched the entire series of Babylon 5 and did a bunch of research to start a paper connecting Hindu themes with the B5 corpus; this was also hella fun...and hella geeky...and terribly fascinating! Lastly, Bradin, another classmate, and I read "The Mating Mind" with one of the Psychology profs (and my advisor for next year), David Bishop. This was a fascinating book looking in depth at the evolutionary psychology entwined with human sexual selection; it has definitely shaped how i see human behavior!
I have, in general, been plugging away at my Religion and Psychology majors, and still planning for library school down the road.
As i mentioned above, i was an RA in a first-year (freshman) dorm this year. I only had one big incident to deal with all year, which was wonderful. The guys on my wing of the building were great and the RA staff in the building were fun to work with week after week.
And how could I write rememberences of this year with mention the person I have found myself head-over-heels in love with, Chrissi. Bradin actually set us up (the two worked together over J-term), we hung out a little...and then every day...and things just sorta grew from there. Chrissi came home with me for a week over Spring Break. We even got tattoos together. So much wonderfulness!
My summer plans include...First I'll be traveling home with Chrissi (Rifle, Colorado) for a week...the whole 'meet the family' thing...then back to Decorah for the rest of the summer. I'll be working between the Decorah Public Library and the Luther Caf and Luther. Janitorial...and then doing an online summer class on the Sociology of Religion. And then Junior Year rolls around.
so yea...haven't made a real update for a while, and there you have it
I walked to work, then I took the train to work, and then I got a ride in a car to a regional supercenter mall that form the hub of the dictionary definition of "edge city". This maul offers wireless, so that's why I"m bugging you.
