5. That hollowed-out robot that The Thunderbolts were going to use as a base but never did. I'm not going to pull my comics out, but it's from the first couple of issues where Hawkeye joined the team. (Thunderbolts)

The reason Idiocracy bombed is because Fox gave it an extremely limited release and didn't promote it. Like, at all.

From the Wikipedia page
Idiocracy was not screened for critics. Its much-delayed release received no publicity and the film was initially distributed to only 130 screens.

I had heard something along those lines. As one of the 32 people who saw Office Space in a movie theater rather than on DVD, I find it weird that Fox would bury the movie like that. When I saw OS, I knew I was seeing a hilarious flick with no studio backing... but to do the same thing to the same director twice? Crazy!

yeah, we saw it in the theater bu sheer luck, after hearing about it like a year before it was released and waiting and waiting.

I have that His Dark Materials book, started it but couldn't get into it - will it get better? I feel like I need to give it a shot, but none of my friends has read it...

I'm of the opinion that no, it will not get better for you. They're serviceable books but I found it hard to stay focused on the series after The Golden Compass. I think the first book is the most reader-friendly.

Worth reading, but tough going sometimes.

I just looked at the website. It's pretty amazing considering the whole point of the movie was that people got so stupid that they didn't know that Brawndo wasn't as good as water... now people will buy Brawndo and not know it's a sly in-joke!

Idiocracy was way too long. Some funny parts, but it should have been a short, or re-written. It just dragged on way too long.

Agreed. They probably could have cut out the entire CostCo sequence without hurting the narrative.

LOVE Idiocracy. My hubby and I are still trying to find it on DVD with no luck (or when we do find it, we have no money)

It's what plants crave! Why? Cuz it's got electrolytes! What's an electrolyte? HAHA
